I bought this for my ferret since she always has the need to dig in her litterbox and litter gets everywhere. On top of that shell also poop against her cage which sometimes causes poo to hit the wall/floor and its just horridAnd this has to be the best purchase ive ever made to avoid that mess like omg ?Its not heavy, and its sturdy enough where ferrets cannot bend it :)I think the only issue/complaint I have would have to be that it can be a bit of a struggle to connect it and disconnect it comfortably to the flooring. Theyre easy to connect each side with the other, but to connect each side to the pan/floor thing can be really annoying and sometimes difficultespecially cause the hooks are bendablebut its not a "I can bend this in anyway i want!"more like a "i can bend and scrunch this but not fully"plus to connect the back part can be kinda difficult cause of the awkward bending and scrunchingoverall= 8/10!the top scatter guard works amazing for ferret nation 183 this one was super easy to install and was easy to put on the tray(btw) it's easier to install the panels with the tray outside the cage .. I think I read something that someone was trying to do it while the pan was in the cage.. I'm pleased with the fit. When putting together they're a tab you bend it to help secure it.The bottom scatter gaurd I had a slight issue with the first one Item side gaurds are too big by a half inch to 1/4 inch on the sides can't install it to my pan for my ferret nation 181. some of the pieces were slightly damaged but the boxes are not. Was returned before Im thinking? for the same issue because of the damage on the part that snap together. I ordered another one it was slightly better but still a little too big on the side, it doesn't fit in the pan on one side and sits up causing a gap. Maybe I'll order another and see if I have the same issue for the bottom scatter gaurd. If so I'll probably modify it to fit correctly. When I first got rats, I quickly discovered that I preferred fleece covers for the plastic pans inside the cage. My two male fancy rats would always make a big mess with any sort of loose bedding, and they would be quite loud in the middle of the night romping around on the hard plastic once they pushed the bedding aside. Fleece covers fixed that. Both sides are useable, extending the life of product, and I've begun layering one or two loose fleece blankets on top (just tucking under around the edges of the pan) to allow for some burrowing/tunneling without having to rip through the fleece. The only downside to this product is that the price has been raising. A year ago, I purchased several for $10, and the price has risen 50% since then. That's a pretty big increase even these days. I may just get cheaper fleece blankets and use them exclusively.I got this to help with providing my ferret some darkness. Since it covers the whole cage and fits well, it is much easier than using sheets like I did before. I was surprised how thin it was. It's so thin, I wondered if it would even work. Maybe that is good for breathability, though I personally don't close the whole thing anyway. But it does seem to work well enough. I'd recommend this for how easy it is and how much it covers. You can leave parts open if you want or close the whole thing in. The material is easy to wipe off. I haven't done a full wash yet, but I can spot clean easy enough. Since it is so thin, I'm not sure about durability. Like I am pretty sure it could rip easily. Something to keep in mind if you have the kind of ferrets that chew or claw at things. Mine sometimes do but they haven't really with this so it's holding up.The Attachment point is week and flimsy. Not as sturdy as ABS Plastic. Made of four thin metal strips that have to be bent to hold panels together.I have a chinchilla named Lulu. In case you were unaware, chin’s poo at least 200 times a day! I know. That’s a lot of dung and before I installed this containment system, that poo, for the most part, ended up scattered all over my floors, leaving me quite a mess to clean daily. Now that I have this upper scatter guard I only have to clean Lulu’s floor once a week, when I clean his cage. I only have the upper system, but I am going to buy the lower, too, if they sell one; totally worth it!My ferrets like it they can both get in there. It doesn't have a shape - as in stand up by itself - I was worried they would suffocate in it but they curl up inside just fine and don't die ??I have the large critter nation double and recommend buying back up trays… I have fleece material line trays and so easier to have the back up when I pull the dirty one and just replace a clean one immediately. Makes cleaning the rat cage 10 times easier and faster..I cannot believe all of the positive reviews for this product, it makes taking the trays out for cleaning (which you should all be doing with small animals periodically) near impossible because it's extends the width so that it catches as it comes out ... sometimes dragging everything else out with it and scratching the cage itself. It's flimsy and doesn't stop their urine from leaking if they are corner-wetters because it's not one-single piece but rather individual pieces slotted next to each other. The 'clips' if you can call them that, bend and deform with use (we gave it one week and they were already a mess).I am just disgusted at the quality of something purpose built for what is a great cage.I have been using this since September and I am quite pleased with it.It is not, as I initially thought, a full tray (I didn't t read the description properly). Its a seres metal strips that clip on to your existing tray leaving a gap round the edge. I was initially worried about 'stinky things' getting stuck in the gap, but they do brush away quite easily and its survived a weekly hosing down without going rusty (early days I know). The reason it is 4 stars and not 5 it is a bit flimsy, was a bit of a pain to fit and I am a bit concerned about how on earth I will remove it without it breaking.Bottom line it does work! I have three young girls (rats) who are typical rats and can be a bit messy, the guard has significantly reduced the amount of bedding, food and other such lovely gifts they would normally attempt to throw on the floor. I previously had a Savic Rat Royale and the critter nation (with the guard fitted) is much cleanerI got this as a handy ladder for my rats for when they want to climb in and out of their high cage. Its really sturdy and the fabric sleeve is easy to remove and wash, as well as stable enough to stay attached and not slip off. My rats love it, running up and down, bouncing on it, and it remains firm and strong for them. Perfect as a platform or ladder for your pets to get around and have some free time!Unfortunately they don't make a cover for the upper shelf, which is what I wanted, so I took a chance and bought one anyway. Easily popped tray in and velcro'd up. Tucked corner in where hole to go to lower level is and hey presto! Done! Have just ordered a 2nd one.I use this so my young male chinchilla so he can run in and out of his cage for his "playtime" outside his cage. The ladder is super rigid and is greatly made. The fleece is so soft when washed. Awesome products. Highly recommended. Arrived quicker than expected. My little "MASH" loves is
